mrugby1-western
ST. CATHARINES, Ont. – The Brock University men's rugby team (0-1 OUA) dropped their OUA homeopener on Saturday afternoon by the score of 27-0 against the Western Mustangs.

Prior to the game, the Brock Badgers Family held a moment of silence for Brock women's rugby player Margo Taylor Ward who Brock University lost after a year long battle with lukemia. The entire Brock women's rugby team along with some Badgers alumni were in attendance to honour their teammate.

The first half of the game was a battle in the rough wet conditions with both teams defense coming up big with goal line stands. After 40 minutes the game remained scoreless.

Western's Justin Chan got the scoring started with a quick try early in the second half. Mike Turnbull connected with his first of two converts to put the Mustangs up 7-0.

Turnbull would add a penalty goal minutes later to increase the Western lead to 10-0.

The Mustangs would add three more tries before the end of the game to give them the 27-0 victory over the Badgers. Ade Ojo powered his way to two tries, while Jerry McCarty contributed with one just before the final whistle.

Brock will look to get their first win of the season when they travel to Wilfrid Laurier to take on the Golden Hawks (0-1 OUA) on September 14th at 1pm.
