SUDBURY, Ont. - The Brock University men's lacrosse team rolled past the Laurentian Voyageurs by the score of 20-5 on the road Sunday afternoon.
After tying the game 2-2 late in the first quarter, the Badgers offense came alive answering with six straight goals in the second quarter to take an 8-2 lead with five minutes remaining. Brock led 9-3 after 40 minutes.Â
The Badgers would continue to roll adding eight of the next nine goals to go up by as many as 13, 17-4 with 13:25 left in regulation.Â
Leading the Badgers attack was junior
Kyle Davis (Caledon East, Ont.) who led all scorers with eight points adding three goals and five assists. Freshman
Brandon Slade (Orangeville, Ont.) contributed with seven points registering two goals and five helpers. Junior attack
Greg Davidson (Scarborough, Ont.)Â collected five goals and one assist, including his 100th career point in a Badgers uniform.
Travis Arch (Mississauga, Ont.)Â added two goals and two assists while
Gage Board (Brampton, Ont.)Â (3G),
Mark Debrone (St. Catharines, Ont.) (2G),
Mitch Robertson (Whitby, Ont.)Â (1G, 1A),
Brandon Staal (Courtice, Ont.)Â (1G, 1A) and
Zach Calder (Mississauga, Ont.)Â (1G) rounded out the scoring.
In goal, freshman
Ryan Jones (Aurora, Ont.)Â registered 12 saves for his first career victory.
The Badgers next action is September 14th when they take on the Western Mustangs on the road in a rematch of last year's CUFLA semi-final. Brock will then host their regular season homeopener on September 15th at 2pm when they battle the Guelph Gryphons.Â
