LONDON, Ont. - The Brock University men's rugby team (4-2-1 OUA) held on for the 17-17 tie against the Western Mustangs (4-1-1 OUA) on the road Friday night.
Brock led 17-5 at the half, with points coming from
Ben Harmer and Matt Mufandadza who each scored a try and
Connor Fitzsimmons who kicked two converts and a penalty goal. Fitzsimmons now has 68 points this season, which ranks among OUA leaders.
Western's lone try in the first half came from James Ojo. The Mustangs scored 12 straight points in the second half, with a try and convert from Mike Turnbull and a single try from Jeremy McCarty.
Â
Western put the pressure on late in the contest, but it was the Badgers defense coming up with a valiant goal line stand to preserve the tie.
Brock will have a week off before returning to action on Saturday, October 25th at 1pm when they host the Toronto Varsity Blues in their final regular season game.
