
GUELPH, Ont - The Brock women's soccer team (3-8-0 OUA) fell to the Guelph Gryphons (4-5-1 OUA), Sunday afternoon by the score of 3-0, despite a strong effort from the visiting team.
The Gryphons had several chances to score in the first several minutes. In the 21st minute, Brock's starting goalkeeper
Meaghan Buckingham, was ejected from the game after a handball outside the crease, putting the Badgers one player down for the remainder of the contest.
Guelph was able to score off a penalty kick in the 27th minute as Jacqueline Goulart buried it passed
Jenna Vasiliaskas. Just two minutes later, Breanna Hall made it 2-0 for the Gryphons, as she capitalized on a pass in front of the net from Goulart.Â
In the second half, the Badger's effort remained strong. Brock was able to limit the Gryphons to just one more tally, scored by Guelph midfielder Danielle Canhoto in the 49th minute. The red card would evidentally be the story of the match, as Brock was unable to capitalize on their opposition down a player, finding themselves defending for the majority of the game.
Vasiliaskas collected three saves in the loss, while Guelph keeper Elizabeth Brenneman made two saves of her own leading to Guelph's sixth victory of the season.
