WINDSOR, Ont. - The Brock women's soccer team (2-9-1 OUA) defeated the Windsor Lancers by the score of 2-1 Saturday afternoon on the road. With the victory, the Badgers still keep their playoff hopes alive.
The two teams played an even match for the majority of the game and it wasn't until the 80th minute that the 0-0 score was broken.
The Badgers were granted a penalty kick after a scuffle in front of the Windsor net which also resulted into a yellow card to Lancers goalkeeper
Krystin Lawrence. Lawrence chose the right direction on the PK, but it was Brock's
Alana Wong (Missisauga, Ont.) giving the Badgers a 1-0 lead.
Just two minutes later, Windsor's Giulia Barile's corner kick connected with Kristen Melo who headed the ball behind Brock starter Lauren MacCulloch (Welland, Ont.) to tie the game at one.
With just two minutes remaining on the clock, the Badgers were awarded another penalty shot which Wong made no mistake on for her second goal of the game and the game winner.
MacCulloch recorded three saves for her second win of the season. Lawence added two saves in the loss.
The Badgers return to action next weekend when they travel north to take on the Algoma Thunderbirds October 17th and 18th.Â
