ST. CATHARINES, Ont. - The Brock University men's rugby team (2-4 OUA) dropped a tough 21-12 decision to the visiting RMC Paladins Friday afternoon at Alumni Field.
RMC led 14-0 after one half. The Badgers rallied back with two trys and a convert to make it 14-12 midway through the second half.
Blake Sanderson (Pickering, Ont.) rattled one of the upright after the Badgers first try.
The Badgers had a number of chances to score to take the lead, but it was the Paladins defense stepping up.
After a lengthy discussion, with three officials on hand for the first time, Sanderson was sent to the sin bin with about 10 minutes left in regulation.
The Paladins took advantage of the penalty and scored late to defeat the Badgers for their second win of the season.
Scoring for the Badgers were
Karl Mueller (Pickering, Ont.) and
Patrick Nguyen (Mississauga, Ont.) with single trys and
Jamie Corbett (Caledon, Ont.) with a convert.
The Badgers have two games remaining against the Western Mustangs at home October 24th at 1pm and Laurier Golden Hawks on the road October 30th.
