
The Brock University men's lacrosse team went 1-1 in the final weekend of the regular season as they clinched second place in the CUFLA West Division.
The Badgers dropped a 12-9 decision to the Guelph Gryphons on the road Friday night and rebounded with a 14-4 victory ovr the Laurentian Voyageurs at home Saturday afternoon.
In the loss to Guelph, Nick Karam (Whitby, Ont.) led the Badgers with three goals and one assist.
Nicholas Beaudoin (Welland, Ont.) and
Davis Neal (Orangeville, Ont.) both added two goals each. Rounding out the Brock scoring were Jeremy McWatters (Whitby, Ont.) (1G, 1A) and Connor Ham (Newmarket, Ont.) (1G).Â
On Saturday versus Laurentian, the Badgers jumped out to a 5-2 lead after 40 minutes and outscored the Voyageurs 9-2 in the second half for their ninth victory of the season and sole possession of second place in the west.
Leading the Badgers offense was
Brandon Slade (Orangeville, Ont.) who led all scorers with six points adding three goals and three assists. He ends the regular season with a career best 62 points (27 goals and 35 assists) to lead CUFLA in scoring.
Grayson Houghton (Orangeville, Ont.) (3G), McWatters (2G, 1A), Beaudoin (2G, 1A),Â
Jake Nyhuus (Oakville, Ont.) (2G, 1A) and Hamm (1G, 2A) all chipped in with three points each.
Kyle Moore (Limehouse, Ont.) rounded out the Badgers offense with a single goal.
In goal,
Josh Wood (Welland, Ont.) finished his rookie campaign with an 8-2 record and ranked among CUFLA leaders in goals against average.
