
LONDON, Ont. - The Brock University men's lacrosse team improved to 2-0 on the season as they defeated the Western Mustangs by the score of 14-12 on the road Wednesday night.
Leading the Badgers offense was the Orangeville duo of
Brandon Slade and
Davis Neal. Slade finished with five goals and one assist while Neal contributed with a career high four goals and two helpers.
Connor Ham (Newmarket, Ont.) and
Nick Karam (Whitby, Ont.) both added two goals each while
Nicholas Beaudoin (Welland, Ont.) rounded out the scoring with a single goal.
The Mustangs were led by Cody Ward who registered four goals. Ryan McCrory added three goals, while Ryan Myles and Thomas Masterson collected one goal and two assists each to round out the Western leaders.
In goal, Brock starter
Jacob Sprigg (Mount Albert, Ont.) recorded eight saves for the victory. Western's Manraj Niijjar turned aside nine of the 23 shots he faced in the loss.
The Badgers next action is Saturday, September 19th at 1pm as part of the 2015 HOMECOMING events when they close out the home and home against the Mustangs. Prior to the game the new turf field will be unveiled.
