Photo Credit: Vaughn RidleyST. CATHARINES, Ont. - The Brock university men's rugby team (1-2 OUA) recorded their first win of the 2015 OUA regular winning by the score of 27-12 against the Toronto Varsity Blues Saturday afternoon on homecoming weekend.
"There was definitely a lot of energy from the homecoming crowd and I know the team appreciates that and feeds of it," said Brock men's rugby head coach
Phil Sullivan.
With the score tied 5-5 midway through the first half, Brock's
Karl Mueller (Pickering, Ont.) recorded a try right at the end of the opening half to put the Badgers up 12-5 after 40 minutes.
The Badgers played a tough second half and made some big plays offensively on route to the 15-point home victory.
Scoring single trys for the Badgers were Mueller,
Jeremy Brownridge (Sunderland, Ont.),
Brandon Wright (Brampton, Ont.),
Dylan Mundy (Sutton, Ont.) and
Ryan Hickey (Pickering, Ont.). Nathan Boeyenga (Brantford, Ont.). rounded out the Brock scoring with a single convert in the victory.
The Badgers are on the road next Saturday, September 26th against the Waterloo Warriors before returning home for three straight home contests versus the Guelph Gryphons (Oct. 9), RMC Paladins (Oct. 16) and Western Mustangs (Oct. 24).
