Box Score
WATERLOO, Ont. - The Brock University women's soccer team (0-9-1 OUA) dropped a 1-0 decision to the Waterloo Warriors Sunday afternoon on the road. The Badgers have now lost five games by one goal including four 1-0 losses.
After a relatively quiet first half for both teams, the intensity picked up in the second with Brock having the best opportunity to go ahead in the 50th minute as
Megan Salisbury (Hamilton, Ont.) found herself all alone in the box but Warriors keeper Kala Studens came up big with a sprawling save to keep the game scoreless.
The teams continued to exchange chances until some nice ball work in the 76th minute by the Warriors Krystna Brudnicki and Madison McDonald who created a golden opportunity for Natalia Villegas who made no mistake for her first career goal which proved to be the game winner.
Brock would not let up and in extra time had a chance to even the game with Studens out of the net but defender Stephanie Penta was there to bail out her keeper and preserve the 1-0 victory for the Warriors.
In goal, Brock starter
Lauren MacCulloch (Welland, Ont.) made six saves in the loss while Studens registered one save for the win.
Brock returns to action on October 3rd at 1pm when they host the Guelph Gryphons.
