
ST. CATHARINES, ON - The Brock University men's rugby team dropped a tough 25-12 decision to the Royal Military College Paladins Saturday afternoon at the Brock Rugby Field.
The game got off to a quick start with a penalty kick by RMC's Matt Courtney to go up 3-0.
Brock answered back with a long breakaway run by
Nabeel Imtiaz to score a try to put Brock on the board, after a failed conversion, Brock lead 5-3.
It wasn't long before some nice passing plays by Brock led to another try by Cameron Edwards.
Nathan Boeyenga hit the conversion and the Badgers were up 12-3.
RMC would storm back scoring two trys from Max Williams and Tim Lo.and two converts by Coutney taking a 17-12 lead heading into the break.
Defence ruled the second half of the game as both teams struggled to score.
Brock came up short on a few runs, as
Ryan Hickey came within inches of a try with 15 minutes left in regulation.
Late in the game, the Paladins added a penalty kick by Courtney and try by Alex Marcovitz  to take the game 25-12.
Despite the loss it was a great effort by the boys in red as they will return to action on Friday October 7 in Waterloo to take on the Warriors.
Their next home game is Saturday October 22 against Western.
