
ST. CATHARINES, ON - The Brock University women's soccer team lost 4-2 to the Western Mustangs Sunday afternoon at Alumni Field.
Western got off to a commanding start scoring three goals in the first 28 minutes to go up 3-0. Kym Van Duynhoven scored two of the goals. At the end of the first half the Badgers were outshot 8 to 3.
The Badgers came out strong in the second half with
Kristen Bettencourt (Ajax, ON) scoring in the 51st minute to make it 3-1. The Badgers would score another goal shortly after in the 58th minute from
Megan Salisbury (Hamilton, ON) which was setup by Bettencourt to make it 3-2.
The game would remain close until the Mustangs scored an insurance goal in the 89th minute to go up 4-2.
In goal, Brock goalkeeper
Marilena Spagnolo (St. Catharines, ON) made five saves in the loss, while Western goalkeeper Juliana Guglietti made seven saves for the win.
The Badgers continue their home stand against the first place York Lions on Thursday, 5pm at Alumni Field.
