ST.CATHARINES, ON – The Brock University women's soccer team delivered a crowd-pleasing 6-0 homecoming victory over the Algoma Thunderbirds Saturday afternoon at Alumni Field.

Brock rookie Melanie Schouten (Newmarket, ON) had a career game scoring the Badgers first three goals on her first three shots. She scored goals in the 18th, 25th and 30th minutes as Brock held a 3-0 lead at the half. 

Brooke Boekestyn (Jordan Station, ON) added back-to-back goals in the 52nd and 63rd to put the Badgers up 5-0. Olivia Schramowsky (London, ON) added an insurance marker in 83rd minute to round out the scoring.

In goal, Brock rookie Marilena Spagnolo (St. Catharines, ON) and Lauren MacCullouch (Welland, ON) combined for the shutout. Algoma starter Alexis Trigiani-Kirkwood recorded 16 saves in the loss.

The Badgers next action is Sunday at 12 noon when they host the Algoma Thunderbirds at Alumni Field.
