ST. CATHARINES, ON - The Brock University women's soccer team (1-2-0 OUA) captured their first victory of the season as they defeated the Waterloo Warriors by the score of 2-1 in their OUA Home Opener at Alumni Field Saturday afternoon.
After a scoreless opening half, Brock got on the board first as
Alysha Bonany (Guelph, ON) gave a lead pass to
Laura Kirk (Mississauga, ON) who used her speed to beat the Waterloo defender and put it past goalkeeper Finn Dunn for her first of the season.
Just two minutes later, Waterloo evened the score 1-1 as Kendra Wynter found the back of the net for her first of the campaign.
Brock regained the one goal lead in the 83rd minute as
Brooke Boekestyn (Jordan Station, ON) crossed one into the box to
Celine DaCosta (Oakville, ON) who buried it past Dunn for the eventual game winner.

Marilena Spagnolo (St. Catharines, ON) made eight saves for her first career OUA victory. Dunn added six saves in the loss.
The Badgers next action is Sunday afternoon when they take on the Laurier Golden Hawks on the road.
