The Brock University men's lacrosse team improved to 8-0 on the season as they defeated the Western Mustangs by the score of 12-8 in overtime to remain in first place in the CUFLA West Division.
Western held a 2-0 lead after the the first quarter and were up 4-2 at the half. In the third quarter, Brock answered with three straight goals to take a 5-4 lead. The Mustangs added one to end the quarter as the score was tied 5-5 after 60 minutes. Brock went up 7-5 midway through the fourth quarter, before the host Mustangs added two, including one with 12 second left in regulation sending it to overtime.
In overtime, the Badgers held a 9-8 lead after one overtime and closed out the game with three straight in the second overtime, on route to the 12-8 overtime victory.
Leading the Badgers offense was
Kurtis Woodland (2G, 1A) and
Tyrus Rehanek (1G, 2A) who both recorded three points each.
Connor Brown registered two goals with single goals going to
Davis Neal,
Connor Ham,
Nicholas Rybka, Saul van der Zalm,
Jordan Gillis and Brett McKinnon.
Brandon Slade finished with two assists in the victory.
Brock closes out the CUFLA regular season with four straight home games at Alumni Field. The Badgers host the Laurier Golden Hawks October 14 at 5:00 pm and McMaster Marauders October 15 at 2:00 pm.
