The Brock University men's lacrosse team took over sole possession of first place in the CUFLA West as they defeated the defending CUFLA Champion Western Mustangs by the score of 12-11 Sunday afternoon at Alumni Field.
Brock opened the game with three straight goals and held an 8-3 lead at the half. The Badgers went up 10-6 after three quarters, before the Mustangs mounted a comeback answering with five goals in the final quarter. Brock held on for the one-goal victory.
Brandon Slade added five points, including three goals and two assists, moving to within 19 points of becoming just the second player in Brock lacrosse history to record 300 career points.
Kurtis Woodland contributed with four goals while
Tyrus Rehanek added a goal and three assists.
Connor Brown chipped in with the natural hat trick while
Connor Ham collected three helpers.
Davis Neal rounded out the Brock scoring adding a single marker.
Cody Ward (3G, 2A) and Reid Reinholdt (4G) combined for seven of the 11 Western goals. Adding single markers for the Mustangs were Thomas Masterson, Jackson Hulbert, Cole Davis and Tristan Simeoni.
