The Brock University women's soccer team opened the weekend with a 4-0 victory over the Algoma Thunderbirds in Sault Ste Marie Saturday afternoon.
The Brock side showed tremendous pressure early and often against the Thunderbirds. They registered 17 shots in the first half and by half time that had manufactured a 4-0 lead, which would ultimately be the deciding score.

Sam Bayer opened the scoring on one of her four shots on. Next was a barrage of attacking from the Badgers that saw them net three goals in five minutes, which put the game out of hand early.

Kristen Bettencourt found the back of the net and in the 42nd minute Harris put the game away for the Badgers all before the half time whistle.
The defense of the Badgers had another strong showing. They held the Algoma women's team to only five shots on goal and did not give up a corner kick.
Marilena Spagnolo had another excellent performance making two saves and had a clean sheet against Algoma for her fourth shutout of the season. After the win Spagnolo ranks third in the OUA with 58 saves.
Next up, the Badgers have a second game against Algoma. The Badgers will be looking to make quick work of the Thunderbirds again and head back to St. Catharines riding a two game winning streak.
