The No. 8 Brock men's rugby team lost to the No. 1 seed, UBC Thunderbirds, on opening day of the Canadian University Men's Rugby Championships at Concordia University in Montreal on Wednesday.
"Playing at the nationals is a tremendous opportunity for the program to establish ourselves at a higher level of competition," said head coach Phil Sullivan. "It is a great way for us to assess ourselves against the best rugby programs in the country and to determine what we need to do to stay at this level."
Cillian O'Brien scored a try. Carter Bondy kicked a convert and Steven Commerford kicked a penalty kick. Nathan Percy was named player of the match for Brock.
