Badgers bound for Baggataway Cup playoffs

The Brock men's lacrosse team punched its ticket to the 2021 Baggataway Cup playoffs with an emphatic 15-1 victory over McMaster during a play-in game at Alumni Field on Monday, Nov. 1.

The Baggataway Cup, which serves as the Canadian University Field Lacrosse Association (CUFLA) championship weekend, will be hosted by Nipissing University in North Bay from Nov. 5-7.

The Badgers will find out their quarter-final opponent on Wednesday, Nov. 3.

Brock has captured the Baggataway Cup 18 times and last hoisted the trophy in 2009.

"This game was a great culmination of what we've been working towards," said co-captain Macgregor Allen. "We know we have to work to win. Since the mid-point of the season, we've been tight as a unit. Everybody's all-in on the season here."

The Badgers led 7-1 at halftime and never looked back as Alex Pace led the attack with a hat trick and two assists.

Nathan Braniff also netted a hat trick and added an assist. Connor Aquanno, Peter Hrynuik and Matthew Hertner each fired in two goals.

Mitch Zullian, Sam Leclair and Andrew Kidd each chipped in a goal.

The goaltending trio of Simon Bellamy, Ethan Low and Connor O'Toole each saw action in between the pipes.
