Brock men's rugby season comes to an end

The Brock men's rugby team concluded their 2021 season in Guelph on Saturday, Oct. 30.

The Badgers lost 52-28 on road to the Guelph Gryphons in the Ontario University Athletics (OUA) West Division playoff final.

"We faced a lot of challenges this year, however there are a lot of positives for our team to build on moving forward. Our seniors led by example and our young guys stepped up immensely," said head coach Shawn Windsor. "We had seven student-athletes in our lineup tonight that were in first or second-year players, so this is their first OUA season."

Guelph led 19-0 before Zach Zorbas put the Badgers on the board in the 36th minute as Carter Bondy added a convert.

In the second half, Guelph opened with three consecutive tries within 10 minutes.

For the Badgers, Nathan Percy, Liam Boeyenga and Steven Medvesky each added a try. Steven Commerford registered all three converts.

"Our graduating vets gave everything they had. They have been awesome on and off the field and true leaders all the way through our season. They are instrumental in the development of our young athletes. The future is very bright."
