The Brock men's and women's tennis teams competed at the OUA Championships on Friday (Oct. 6), with both teams being eliminated after the quarter-final round.
To start the tournament off, the Badgers men took on the No. 3 York Lions.
The team of Evan Goad and Alex Cristiano won their doubles match from the No. 2 slot by a score of 8-5. The other two Badgers teams would come up short, giving the doubles point to the York Lions.
In singles competition, the Badgers saw Nestor Voronych push his opponent Christian Giusto to a third set, before ultimately falling 6-0 in the tiebreaker. York won the match 7-0 off six singles victories and the doubles win.
On the women's side, the Badgers drew the No. 3 McMaster Marauders in quarter-final action.
No. 1 player Aleks Paramentic gave Eva Feddema a tough match, but fell in straight sets by scores of 7-6 and 6-3. Paramentic paired with Lauren Stevens in the No. 1 doubles slot and took five sets off the top pair of Anastasija Kunovac and Maia Mureseanu. It was not enough as the top McMaster pair won the contest 8-5.
The Marauders won each singles match and the three doubles contests to take the match 7-0.
This concludes the season for the Brock tennis team, who have lots to build upon for the upcoming seasons. Gaining valuable experience at the OUA championships should bode well for the young squad moving forward.
