The Brock Badgers attempt at making the Baggataway Cup finals for a third-straight year was denied by the Western Mustangs on Saturday, Nov. 4.
The two teams had previously met during the season, with the side from London having got the better of the Badgers on two occasions.
Brock was hoping to reverse what happened during the season, but it was the Mustangs who got out to a hot start.
Western scored two goals early on. It could have been a third in that time frame, but Brock goaltender Connor O'Toole made a big save midway through on a point-blank Western shot.
The Brampton native's play in the net kept the lead at 2-0 after the first quarter.
Western added two in the second quarter and three in the third, holding Brock scoreless through 45 minutes of play.
Brock scored their first and only goal in the fourth quarter as Blair Pachereva got on the board. Western added three more in the final 15 minutes to finish with a 9-1 win.
Jaden Patterson collected the lone Brock assist on the night.
The Badgers' season comes to an end after the tough semifinal loss. Head coach Vince Longboat has built a consistent program, and you can expect this team to be competing deep into the season once again in 2024.
