The Brock women's figure skating team hosted the Brock Invitational at the Algoma Central Arena in Canada Games Park on Tuesday, Dec. 5.
In the first invitational of the season, the Badgers placed seventh overall. A total of eight schools competed at the invitational, with Brock competing in nine of the ten events. The Toronto Varsity Blues secured first overall, while the Western Mustangs claimed a silver medal. The McMaster Marauders took home third.
"We had the opportunity to unveil our new team and routines in front of a panel of judges,"Â said head coach
Emily McCarthy. "We were also able to size up our competition, as 7 other universities joined us at the first competition of the season."
Brock's results were led by
Alyssa Cross, who earned second in the Novice Short Program behind the Toronto Varsity Blues.
Mya Lamport and
Rachel Fawcett placed fourth in the Star 8/9 Couple Dance, while
Hayley Keith also placed fourth in the Gold Solo Dance.Â
"We are excited and motivated to elevate our programs to compete in the rest of the 2023-24 competitive season. We look forward to competing in the Open Rhythm Dance, Dance 4s, Free-Skate 4s and Synchro events at the two upcoming competitions, including the OUA Championship in March at Brock." McCarthy added.
Up next, the Badgers will prepare to host the OUA Championship on Tuesday, Mar. 5 and Wednesday, Mar. 6 at the Algoma Central Arena in Canada Games Park. Â
