Brock figure skating team captures two medals, finishes sixth at OUA Championship

The Badgers figure skating team is coming back from Toronto with some hardware.

Over the two-day competition on Tuesday, March 4 and Wednesday March 5, the Badgers competed against nine other schools at the 2025 Ontario University Athletics (OUA) Figure Skating Championship.

The Brock figure skating coaching staff reflected on how their whole team performed throughout the competition.

"We had a great two days of competition and showed off some really outstanding performances all around. Our whole coaching staff is incredibly proud of every member of our team for their beautiful skating at the OUA Championship and for the hard work and perseverance they demonstrated throughout the whole season."

The Western Mustangs placed first with a total of 103 points while the Toronto Varsity Blues finished second with 98. The Guelph Gryphons were third with 60 and the Badgers finished with 22 points for sixth place.

For the second straight year, both Alyssa Cross and Trinity Males are OUA medallists.

Cross earned second in the gold artistic dance this year and was a silver medallist last year as well in the novice short program event.

In the couples artistic event which took place on Day 1, Males partnered with Kailyn Davidson to finish with a bronze medal.

The Badgers narrowly missed out on a medal in the senior pair freeskate as the team of Cross and Ashleen Hale finished fourth with a score of 41.86 while the Western Mustangs had 43.12.

Brock's dance fours team of Davidson, Males, Kaia Fogh and Lauren Wylie placed fifth while in the final event of the competition, open synchro, the Badgers also finished fifth.

"We have lots of talent to bring forward into next season, and we are excited to get started," the coaching staff added.
