Robin French scored two tries and the Brock men's rugby team opened the Ontario University Athletics (OUA) season with a resounding 45-3 victory over the McMaster Marauders in St. Catharines on the evening of Saturday, Sept. 16.
Â
Head coach Sean Medeiros said it was a fantastic way to kick off Brock University's Homecoming Week, which runs from Sept. 16-24 and is
full of activities.
Â
"It was great to see the support and feel the positive energy from our alumni and the crowd today," said head coach Sean Medeiros. "The men appreciate it, because there was a lot of build up after a long training camp and we knew it was going to culminate into a special match like this one."
Â
French, a second-year scrum half from Lakefield, punched in both tries before halftime to the cheers of a full crowd at Brock Alumni Field under the stadium lights.
Â
"Robin approaches everyday to get better and he's worked hard during his time here at Brock," said Medeiros. "It's rewarding to see him step into this opportunity and take it by the horns. We all know how hard he works at practice."
Â
Steven Commerford recorded four converts.
Tanner Hubble,
Reuben Cantwell,
Zachariah Bingham,
Reon White and
Sebastian Brenders each added a try.
Â
Bingham also contributed a convert.
