The Brock Badgers men's rugby team defeated the Laurier Golden Hawks in front of an electric Alumni Field.
A strong showing from Brock highlighted by their resilient defensive play, earned them a 27-19 win on Saturday, Oct. 19.
Leading the way for the Badgers was Luke Bagshaw as he earned 12 points total on one try, two conversions and a penalty kick.
Graduating seniors Reuben Cantwell and Reon White both recorded five points each off one try.
In a tight first half and after trailing in the first minute, the Badgers rallied back into the lead with three straight tries courtesy of Cantwell (16Â minute), White (27 minute) and Bagshaw (34Â minute).
After leading 17-12 at halftime, a successful penalty kick by Bagshaw extended Brock's lead.
The Golden Hawks clawed back making it a one score game in the 48Â minute with the Badgers leading 20-19.
An outstanding effort from Grant Meadows led to a try in the 73Â minute and the conversion from Bagshaw sealed the game for the Badgers.
Up next, the Badgers will face the Gaels in the OUA quarterfinals on Saturday, Oct. 26. The last time the Badgers faced the Gaels, they fell 57-12 on Saturday, Oct. 12.
