Brock had a strong start to the season.
The Brock Badgers women's curling team placed third at the Guelph Invitational on Saturday, Nov. 9Â and Sunday, Nov. 10Â in Guelph. Â
In their first match on Saturday morning, the Badgers led 1-0 early against the McMaster Marauders but ultimately fell 8-4 in seven ends. Â
Brock competed closer in its second contest of the day; this time against the Laurier Golden Hawks. Two points in the sixth end from the Golden Hawks was enough to see them win 6-4 over the Badgers.Â
Looking to turn things around, Brock earned a commanding 9-3 win over the Ontario Tech Ridgebacks, including putting up four points in the fifth end to widen the gap over their opponents. Â
The Badgers' first match on Sunday helped them earn a spot in the Varsity B Final, as they defeated the Varsity Blues by a score of 9-2 after taking the lead early and not looking back.Â
In the Varsity B Final on Sunday afternoon, five points in the top of the third end against Mohawk College sealed a 9-0 victory in four ends as Brock took home the third-place spot at the invitational.Â
Next, the Brock Badgers women's curling team will head to Peterborough to compete in the Trent Invitational on Saturday, Nov. 23.
