Brock headed south for an international invitational this past weekend.
The Brock Badgers women's track & field team competed at the SPIRE Midwest Invitational in Geneva, OH on Saturday, Jan. 25.
Sarah Saldutto performed outstandingly at the invitational, recording a season-best 5.89-metre result in the women's long jump; 0.19 metres higher than second place. This was the Welland native's first gold medal of the season in the women's long jump and third podium finish overall.
In the women's 60m hurdles event, Saldutto placed first with a time of eight seconds and 60 milliseconds in the prelim qualifier, and in the final, she finished in a time of eight seconds and 72 milliseconds to earn a fourth gold medal of the season.
The Badgers had two top ten finishes in the women's triple jump, with Olivia Mark (10.70m) finishing seventh and Sajini Ganeshamurthi (10.72m) placing sixth.
Looking towards the 60m dashes, in the women's event prelims
Sofia Aljourmi placed 17th (8.09) and
Keira Arnold in 34th (8.35).
Brock had two top six finishers in the women's one-mile run, with
Hailee Masse (5:09.60) placing fourth and Lauren Mascai (5:11.56) finishing sixth.
Jolanta Clark (5:36.68) and Cori Mascai (5:17.28) also competed in the event.
In the women's shot put,
Megan Jaques placed 10th with a throw of 11.41m, and in the women's weight throw, Jaques finished 11th with a sucessful attempt of 13.12m.
Brock placed eighth in the women's 4x400 relay event with a time of 4:12.95.
Next, the Brock Badgers women's track and field team heads to the York Open in Toronto from Friday, Jan. 31 to Saturday, Feb. 1.
