In an impressive performance on Saturday, March 8, Michael Ivanov won a gold medal in the men’s pole vault at the 2025 U SPORTS Championships, securing the first ever national gold medal for the Brock track and field program. After clearing successful attempts at four different heights including 4.90-metres which gave him the victory, Ivanov continued to aim for higher. In his first attempt of a personal-best 5.12m, the third-year jumper, cleared the height and immediately showed the number one sign to the fans cheering in the audience. Ivanov finished a whopping 32 cm higher than the the second-best finisher, Emanuel Desilets from the Western Mustangs, who finished at 4.80m. Ivanov finished the season winning both the pole vault at the Ontario University Athletics (OUA) and U SPORTS Championships. He also won the Brock University Athlete of the Week three times during the year.
