ST CATHARINES, Ont. – The Brock University men's soccer team (1-10-4 OUA) came up short in a 3-2 loss to the Laurier Golden Hawks (6-4-4 OUA) on Wednesday afternoon at Brock.

The Badgers took an early 1-0 lead when Sammy Orlando converted on a penalty kick in the third minute after the Laurier keeper Brett Harrington drew a foul challenging for a loose ball.

Laurier struck back in the 56th minute tying the game up at one on Adrian Bucksam's sixth goal of the 2013 campaign.

Sean Malizia would put the Golden Hawks ahead two minutes later giving them a 2-1 lead after 58 minutes.

Laurier's Niklas Bauer would pick up a key insurance marker in the 85th minute giving the Golden Hawks a 3-1 lead with five minutes remaining.

Just when it seemed like the game was out of reach, Brock drew a second penalty inside the box, giving Orlando another penalty kick with this one coming in the 90th minute.

Orlando made no mistake cashing in with his third goal of the campaign and 15th in his OUA career.

The Badgers came up short in the final minutes of extra time falling 3-2 to the Golden Hawks.

Daniel Keir showed no signs of it being his first start in goal for the Badgers as he came up big on multiple occasions collecting six saves in the loss. Keir was especially strong in the first half controlling the goal area while defending nine Laurier corner kicks.

Brock will finish their 2013 season on Saturday, October 19th when they travel to Hamilton to take on the McMaster Marauders at 3:15pm.
