TORONTO, Ont. - The Brock University men's soccer team (0-1-1 OUA) dropped an 8-0 decision to the York Lions Monday afternoon on the road.

York jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the first 12 minutes and answered three more times in the first half leading 5-0 after 45 minutes.

In the second half, Brock came out hard, but it was the Lions Jonathan Lao adding his fourth goal in his first two games for the 6-0 lead. York would add two more in the final 15 minutes on route to their second consecutive victory.

Scoring for York were Jonathan Lao (6', 59'), Mark-Anthony Kaye (12', 43') and Joseph Cicchillo (25', 36') who all recorded two goals each. Casey D'Mello (74') and Domenic Gullo (88') both added singles.

The Badgers were outshot 15-2 in the contest. In goal, York starter Sotiri Varlokostas recorded the shutout victory while Brock starter Jake Sweetzer (Mississauga, Ont.) suffered the loss allowing six goals on eight shots. Noah Mar (North York, Ont.) replaced Sweetzer in the final 20 minutes allowing two goals on four shots.

The Badgers return to action on September 4th when they take on the Laurier Golden Hawks on the road. Brock then has a five-game homestand beginning September 8th at 3:15pm when they host the McMaster Marauders.

Notes: I made the road trip on the bus with the twins today. They have been going to Brock games since they were born but this was their first road trip on the bus with the team. So many great student-athletes at Brock University that they look up. Both the men's and women's teams engaged them as part of the Brock Badgers Family.
