Brock men's soccer play to 2-2 draw against Laurier

WATERLOO, Ont. - The Brock University men's soccer team (0-1-2 OUA) recorded their second draw in their first three contests during the OUA regular season as they tied the Laurier Golden Hawks by the score of 2-2 Wednesday night on the road.

The Badgers opened the scoring just eight minutes in as junior forward Marcus Bernard (Thornhill, Ont.) recorded his first goal of the season beating Laurier goalkeeeper Brett Harrington.

Less than 10 minutes later at the 17 minute mark, the Golden Hawks would tie the game 1-1, as Adrian Bucksam put it past Brock starter Jake Sweetzer (Mississauga, Ont.) for his second goal of the campaign.

Brock would regain the lead in the 77th minute as Bernard buried a header past Harrington for his second goal of the night.

With the Badgers looking for their first victory of the season, Laurier's Sandro Stojakovic would play spoiler as he beat Sweetzer in the 86th minutes to tie the game 2-2. 

Sweetzer turned aside of eight of 10 shots he faced for his second draw of the season. Harrington registered five saves dropping his record to 2-0-1. In their first three contests this season, the Badgers have been outshot 35-15.  

The Badgers next action is Sunday, September 8th when they play host to the defending OUA Champion McMaster Marauders at 3:15pm in their homeopener.
