
ST. CATHARINES, Ont. - The Brock University men's soccer team ended the 2015 OUA regular season with a thrilling 1-0 victory over the Laurier Golden Hawks Sunday afternoon at Alumni Field.
In the opening half, Laurier peppered Brock senior goalkeeper
Matthew Zaikos (Markham, Ont.) with eight shots, but it was Zaikos coming up with some spectacular saves to keep it scoreless.
In the second half, both teams had two great scoring chances, but it was Zaikos and Laurier goalkeeper Matthew Goncalves keeping it deadlocked 0-0.
In an exciting ending to the season, defenseman
George Gill (Ennismore, Ont.) moved up and drilled home the game winner past Goncalves in the 90th minute, for the 1-0 victory.
Zaikos earned the victory with a game-high 10 saves. He finishes the season ranked 1st in the OUA in saves (110), 1st in games played (16), 7th in wins (4), and 8th in save percentage (.786).Â

with a victory in his last career game. He ends his 32-year career as the all-time winningest coach in school history.
