ST. CATHARINES, Ont. – Thursday night, the Brock women's softball team (5-3 OIWFA) played valiantly in a double header winning both games versus the McMaster Marauders. The Badgers won Game One by the score of 10-8 and Game Two 9-2.
In Game One,
Megan Nickel (St. Catharines, Ont) threw a stellar seven innings striking out eight batters in the victory.
On offense, it was
Shannon McGinnis (Elmvale, Ont) who led the way going 3-for-4.
In a very close game, one would look to the 5th inning as the true turning point, as the team went on to score four runs. Head coach
Mark Hall applauded the team's defense and team play in earning the win.
In Game Two,
Shanna Wilson (Peterborough, Ont) pitched five complete innings allowing two runs on four hits while striking out four for the win. Wilson and
Madi Clinton (St. Thomas, Ont.) went a combined 7-for-8 to keep the Badgers offense rolling. The game went on to end by mercy rule.
The Badgers will return to action this Saturday at home where they will face the Carleton Ravens in a double header at 2pm and 4pm EST.
