The Brock Badgers softball team faced off against the McMaster Marauders for the second time in the weekend.
On Sunday, Sept. 29, the Badgers lost by scores of 2-1 and 12-1 to the Marauders Mohawk Sports Park in Hamilton.
Game 1: Brock 1 - 2 McMaster
Reagan Lalande earned the start on the rubber for the Badgers, pitching six innings while striking out two and allowing seven hits and two runs (both unearned).
Brock's lone run in the game came off an Emma Andres sacrifice fly in the top of the sixth inning.
With a tied game in the bottom of the sixth, a Badgers' fielding error, their third of the game, was the turning point that allowed the Marauders to score the winning run.
Victoria Jeffery had a strong game on offence with two stolen bases, a run scored and a hit in three at-bats.
With a trifecta of errors in the game and lack of offence, the Badgers dropped the first game.
Game 2: Brock 1 - 12 McMaster
A bounce back game for Brock was quickly nipped as McMaster rolled out three runs in the first inning followed by three more in the second.
Emma Poulton started as the pitcher, but after one and one third innings of work, allowing seven hits and four earned runs (seven total), she was chased from the game.
The pitching didn't get better from the bullpen with Karissa Mino, Madison Parrish and Alexis Simpson each not going over one inning of pitching and simultaneously allowing five runs in 2.2 bullpen innings.
Brock found themselves down by a score of 12-1 when the game was called in the fourth inning by way of a mercy rule.
A total of four errors in the second game gave no help to the Badgers' pitching staff.
Allegra Ferreira scored the solo Badgers run off the bat of Tanis Drover; the only run batted in (RBI) during the game for the Badgers.
Up next for the Brock Badgers is a trip to the Turtle Club Diamond in Windsor for an evening double header on Friday, Oct. 4 against the Windsor Lancers. Games are scheduled for 7 p.m. and 9 p.m.
