The Brock Badgers women's softball team split its Friday night clash with the Windsor Lancers on Oct. 4.
In the first game, Brock battled for a 3-2 win in a nail biter, but they later dropped the second contest to Windsor 6-3 at the Turtle Club Diamond in Windsor.
Game 1: Brock 3 - Windsor 2
Through the first six innings of the game, Brock was held to one run while the Lancers had two to lead 2-1.
The lone run came from fourth-year player Faith Westman who hit a double in the top of the second inning to cash in Alexis Simpson.
A clutch seventh inning effort saw Brock pull ahead, as Emma Young was hit by a pitch to tie the game at 2-2 which was followed by Emma Andres driving in the go-ahead run.
Despite the victory, the Badgers were outhit by the Lancers 9-6, as Westman finished the game with a team-high two hits and the remaining hits spread across different batters.
The Summerland, BC native ended the game going 2-for-3 with a run batted in (RBI) and a run scored.
Both Andres and Young tallied a hit and an RBI, while Jade Fager and Simpson accounted for Brock's two other runs.
Reagan Lalande got the start in the circle going seven innings, giving up two runs on nine hits, while walking one and striking out four to earn the win.
Windsor showed their speed earning the only two steals in the game.
In the field, the Badgers committed three errors to the Lancers' two.
Game 2: Brock 3 - Windsor 6
In the loss, the Badgers struggled to string together hits when it mattered most, while the Lancers consistently found the barrel to get on base.
Brielle Greenslade had a standout game, hitting 2-for-3 with a no-doubter over fence for a two-run homer in the bottom of the first inning. The Mississauga, ON product finished the contest with two RBI and a run scored.
Leadoff hitter Tanis Drover also had two hits and a run in the game, while Young added a hit, a run and an RBI.
Emma Poulton got the nod in Game 2, pitching seven innings giving up six runs on 12 hits, along with two walks and three strikeouts.
Offensively, the Lancers kept finding ways to get on base and drive in runs as they scored four of their six runs in the first three innings to gain momentum.
In the hit department, Brock ended the contest with seven hits compared to Windsor's 12.
The speed continued to show as Windsor led with two steals while Brock had none. The Lancers also had more defensive miscues in the game with two compared to one from the Badgers..
This concludes the season for the Badgers who finish with a 6-14 record.
