The Brock University women's softball team posted a 2-1 record in pool play at the 2016 OIWFA Championships. The Badgers clinched first place in their pool and advanced to Sunday's semi-finals.
On Friday, the Badgers opened the championship with an 8-4 victory over the McMaster Marauders. Starting pitcher Â
Larissa Rowdon went the distance allowing four runs on 10 hits while strking out three for the victory. Offensively,
Madi Clinton (2/3. 2 RBI),
Laine Padovan. (2/4, 1 RBI) and
Miranda Wiens (2/4, Â 2 RBI) all collected two hits each.
On  Saturday, the Badgers won 11-4 over the Toronto Varsity Blues and dropped a 4-1 decision against the Queen's Gaels.
Versus Toronto,
Kelsey Hanly picked up the victory allowing four runs on 15 hits wihile striking out two in seven innings of work. Clinton. (3/4. 2 RBI) and Padovan (2/4. 3 RBI) continued to spark the Badgers offense. Rowdon (2/3, 2 RBI) and
Paige Sharp (2/3, 3 RBI) rounded out the Brock leaders with two hits a piece.
Against Queen's, starting pitcher
Lena MacDonald suffered the loss. She allowed four runs on 12 hits while stking out two over seven complete innings.Â
Emilly MacDonald (2/3),
Shannon McGinnis (1/2) and Alannah Doyle (1/3) collected hits in their first postseason loss.
