Box Score ST. CATHARINES, ON - The Brock University men's soccer team earned a hard faught point in a heated matchup against the Western Mustangs Sunday afternoon at Alumni Field.

The Mustangs got on the board first in the 13th minute when Amad El-Houni put a free ball into the box that was put away by Rudy James for the 1-0 lead.

For the next 73 minutes both teams battled for every ball with things getting heated late as Brock's Arsen Platis (Stoney Creek, ON) was awarded a penalty shot in the 86th minute after being taken down inside the box. Platis was awarded the penalty shot after the far linseman overruled the head referee on the play.

Platis buried the shot into the bottom left hand corner past Western starting goalkeeper Kirit Mascarenhas to even the game 1-1.

Immediately following the goal, there was a scuffle in the Western end with all 11 players on both teams in on the action.

Right at the end of regulation time, another scuffle occurrred which saw both benches clear, including coaches. During the altercation, Brock goaltender Matt Zaikos (Markham, ON) was issued a red card followed by a red card against Western's Jonathan Hodge.

With no substitution cards left and five minutes extra time added, Brock had to put midfielder Eric Serafino in goal the remainder of the game.
Western put the pressure on in the final few minutes, and had two shots that both went wide, as Brock escaped with a 1-1 draw. 

Brock returns to action at home Thursday night at 7:15pm when they host the No. 2 ranked York Lions at Alumni Field.
