
ST. CATHARINES, ON - The Brock University women's softball team ended the regular season on a high winning their final four contests as they qualified for the 2016 OIWFA Championships.
The Badgers swept the Guelph Gryphons by the scores of 8-1 and 8-0 Friday night.
In Game One,
Larissa Rowdon registered the victory after throwing six complete innings allowing one run on two hits while striing out six.
Shannon McGinnis led the way offensively going 4-for-4 with two RBI.
Emilly MacDonald and
Shayla Martin both went 2-for-3 with an RBI.
In Game Two,
Kelsey Hanly threw five shutout innings allowing just four hits while striking out one for the victory.
Rowdon went 2-for-3 with three RBI while
Laine Padovan went 1-for-3 with a two-run homerun. Hanly was also 1-for-3 with three RBI.
On Saturday, the Badgers closed out the OIWFA regular season with a sweep over the Ryerson Rams by scores of 5-4 and 6-2.
In Game One,Â
Madi Clinton led the Brock offense going 3-for-3 with two RBI. Padovan was 2-for-3 with two RBI, while
Lexi Hext also collected two hits going 2-for-3 with an RBI.
Lena MacDonald allowed three runs on seven hits over five innings of work in a no-decision. In relief, Hanly threw the final two innings giving up one run on two hits for the victory.
In Game Two, Padovan went 3-for-4 with an RBI while both Clinton and
Alison Darien chipped in with two hits each.
Rowdon recorded her second victory of the weekend after throwing seven complete innings. She allowed one run on four hits while striking out five.
