ST. CATHARINES, ON - The Brock University men's soccer team (0-2-1 OUA) dropped a tough 2-1 decision to the Waterloo Warriors in their OUA Home Opener Saturday afternoon at Alumni Field.
These two teams have had a number of close battles the past two seasons with both teams playing a very physical style.
Today's game didn't stop there as there was a number of hard tackles that got both teams players and coaches heated.
The Badgers opened the scoring the 22nd minute as
Arsen Platis (Stoney Creek, ON) took a cross from
Marco Paoletti (Mississauga, ON) and drilled it past Waterloo goalkeeper Thomas Modesch.
Midway through the opening half, Modesch game up with two key saves to keep his team in the game.
Waterloo tied the game 1-1 in the 44th minute as Yusup Khaled gave a lead pass to Jae Jin Lee, who walked in all alone and slid it past Brock goalkeeper
Matt Zaikos (Markham, ON).
In the 78th minute, Jin Lee would add his second goal of the game to make it 2-1 Waterloo, which would prove to be the game winner.
In goal, Zaikos collected three saves in the loss, while the Warriors Modesch added four saves for the victory.
In total there was six yellow cards handed out, three aside.
The Badgers next action is Sunday afternoon when they take on the Laurier Golden Hawks on the road.
