6077

This past weekend the Brock Badgers Softball team travelled to Guelph University on Friday. Going into the first game with heavy hearts scoring 5 runs in the first inning. Battling for the win the girls stayed in the game and won 7-5. Going into the second game the girls were riding high but Kelsey Hanly fell short letting 8 runs in within two innings. Lena MacDonald came in to close, holding Guelph with their 8 runs and the girls battled hard again but ended up splitting with Guelph losing 8-7 in the second game.

Saturday the girls had their home opener playing a double header against Carleton University. Being fired up and back at home the Brock Badgers took four points this day winning 8-0 in the first game, with Michaela D'Cruz on the mound allowing no hits and only two walks in. Once again the girls found their bats and had timely hitting. In the scorching heat and the second game, the girls came in hot with a 7-2 win.

On Sunday the girls had their heads held high coming into their games against Ottawa University.

Knowing that the GeeGees are a team the run with the girls had their heads and hearts in the games. Starting off the first game Kelsey Hanly coming in and redeeming herself from her fall out with Guelph, pitched all 7 innings keeping the GeeGee's bats in the park and exceptional help from sophomore Emily Macdonald who made a double play defensively and also having 2 RBI's and a double offensively. Shayla Martin also had timely hitting scoring 2 RBI's to help keep the lead. The girls won 8-4 in the first game.

Going into their second game both teams were hungry for a win and there was a hard fought battle on the field. Paige Sharp had some really good hits and smart base running to keep the girls up in the game. Going into the fourth inning the GeeGee's tied it up and the girls defended well, Madi Alexander having an amazing diving catch in the 6th inning to hold the runs on base but the Badgers fell short losing the game 7-6 and splitting with Ottawa.

Next week the Brock softball team travels to Ryerson on Friday and then back home Saturday and Sunday to play York and Queens University.
