Blamauer, Badgers tame Lions

Rookie Grace Blamauer batted in a total of seven runs as the Brock softball team defeated the York Lions by scores of 15-0 and 15-1 on Sunday.

"Grace Blamauer is having a great all-around year," said head coach Mark Hall. "Showing her skills both offensively and defensively while also showing off her speed on the bases."

The Badgers forced the Lions into the four-inning mercy rule both games.

Brock currently sits second behind Western in the Ontario Intercollegiate Women's Fastpitch Association's West Division with a record of 9-3.

Senior Madi Clinton registered four RBI and Paige Sharp secured two in the first game. Katie Oberle struck out three and allowed only two hits in four innings.

In Game 2, Emily MacDonald tallied three RBI and Chanelle Church smashed two RBI. Pitcher Taylor Punter struck out three and allowed a hit and an unearned run.

Up next, the Badgers prepare to play a doubleheader versus first-place Western on Saturday, Sept. 29 (2 p.m. and 4 p.m.) at Lancaster Park in St. Catharines. The softball team wraps up the regular season at home on Sunday, Sept. 30 versus Windsor (11 a.m. and 1 p.m.).
