Marc Iantomasi scored the first goal of the Brock men's soccer team's 2019 season as the Badgers battled the Waterloo Warriors to a 2-2 draw in Waterloo on Saturday.
"I thought the boys withstood the early pressure well and adapted to the high pace of the game," said head coach Lucio Ianiero. "Then we settled in and played some nice soccer."
Iantomasi, a second-year defender, found the back of the net at the 15-minute mark of the first and senior striker Jared Agyemang scored 30 minutes later to give Brock a 2-0 lead at the end of the first half.
"I thought our compete level was good," said head coach Lucio Ianiero. "But our fitness let us down in the second half."
The Warriors worked their way back into the match when Sebastian Guerrieri scored a penalty kick and Ahmad Mansour tied the game up in the 90th minute.
Brock outshot Waterloo 8-7 as Badgers goalkeeper Alex May made six saves.
Up next, the Badgers (0-0-1) return to St. Catharines to host the Windsor Lancers (0-0-1) in their home opener on Sunday, Sept. 1 at 2:15 p.m.
