Brock softball team snaps losing streak with big win over McMaster

The Brock Badgers softball team snapped a three-game losing streak with a 10-3 victory over the McMaster Marauders under the lights at Lancaster Park on Friday, Oct. 8.

"I am so proud of how the ladies bounced back because it can be difficult to remain mentally tough after multiple losses, but the ladies work hard to pick each other up and push forward," said senior catcher Paige Sharp. "The seniors on the team have stepped up to welcome the rookies onto the team and into the Badger family."

Brock improved to 6-3 and is currently tied with Waterloo with 12 points each in the West Division of the Ontario Intercollegiate Women's Fastpitch Association. Brock's game in Guelph was postponed on Saturday, Oct. 9.

The Badgers secured the victory thanks to six runs in the second inning. Singles led the rally by Tanis Drover, Kaitlyn Hickey and Emily Campbell.

Pitcher Megan Morrow led the Badgers to victory on the rubber. Morrow struck out three batters over three innings while allowing only three runs on five hits. Haleigh Wilson tossed three innings in relief out of the bullpen.

Hughes, Campbell, Josie Butler-Watson, Alexis Simpson, Drover, Hickey, Chanelle Church and Gabby Panth.

Hickey, Hughes, Campbell and Drover each collected two RBI.

For McMaster, Abbileigh Wikston and Katie Haffner each recorded multiple hits.

Next, the Badgers (6-3) will play a doubleheader on the road against Wilfrid Laurier (5-3) on Saturday, Oct. 16, before returning home and hosting Western on Sunday, Oct. 17 at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.
