The Brock Badgers men's tennis team suffered a pair of losses to the Ottawa Gee-Gees and the Western Mustangs this past weekend.
On Saturday, Sept. 28, the Badgers hosted the Gee-Gees at Youngs Sportsplex in Welland but fell 7-0.
The following day on Sunday, Sept. 29, the Badgers travelled to the Western Tennis Centre in London to take on the Mustangs, where they were shutout in a tough 7-0 loss.
Brock 0 - Ottawa 7
The Badgers began the weekend with three losses in the doubles matches. Despite the loss, Alex Cristiano and Evan Goad put up a good fight, narrowly losing their doubles match 8-6.
In singles play, Brock was unable to string together any victories, falling in all six matches in a 6-0 defeat.
Alex Williams earned a commanding first set victory, winning 6-1, but was unable maintain the lead dropping the next two sets 6-4 and 10-6.
Goad started strong, taking the first set by a score of 6-4. However, he could not build on it, ultimately falling in the next two sets for the loss.
Brock 0 - Western 7
In their second matchup versus Western, Brock was unable to find a spark in doubles as they lost all three matches 8-3, 8-2 and 8-0 to the Mustangs.
The Mustangs kept firing on all cylinders, racking up another six wins and points in singles matches against the Badgers.
Williams pushed his singles match to a third set, winning the second set by a score of 6-4 before succumbing to defeat.
Next up, the Badgers look to bounce back when it matters as they travel to the Mayfair Tennis Club to compete in the Ontario University Athletics (OUA) Championships from Friday, Oct. 11 to Sunday, Oct. 13.
