The Brock Badgers men's tennis team captured their first win of the season. 

On Saturday, Sept. 14 the Badgers bested the Warriors by a score of 5-2 at Youngs Sportsplex before falling in a tight 4-3 matchup to the McMaster Marauders on Sunday, Sept. 15 in Hamilton. 

Brock 5 - Waterloo 2 

The Badgers dominated the double matches, building momentum for the rest of the day as they won 5-2 over the Warriors. 

Alex Cristiano and Evan Goad started the Badgers with a straight sets win (8-0) before Ethan From and Alex Williams (8-4) and Jaden Chamberlain and Nestor Voronych (8-2) combined to complete the doubles sweep. 

Williams earned the first singles victory of the match defeating Josh Vagheese by set scores of 6-1 and 6-1. 

Despite Waterloo taking a 2-1 lead in the singles portion, the Badgers battled back, winning three consecutive matches to take home the win.  

Cristiano (6-1, 6-1), From (6-0, 6-0) and Voronych (6-3, 6-1) outperformed Waterloo in their singles matchups.  

Brock 3 - McMaster 4 

The men's team fell in a tight matchup 4-3, emerging victorious early in the singles matchups before McMaster won the final three to take the match. 

Brock went down early in doubles play but rallied and won the last two matches. 

Jaden Chamberlain and Nestor Voronych (8-4) and Evan Goad and Alex Cristiano (8-3) won their respective doubles contests to give the Badgers the first point.  

The Badgers went down in the first singles match but fought hard in the next two matches with Williams (6-1, 6-1) and Goad (6-3, 7-5) both prevailing in their matchups, earning the Badgers two points. 

Ultimately, this was not enough for Brock to earn the win. 

Up next, the Badgers will travel to Toronto on Saturday, Sept. 21 to take on the York Lions.
