In Torrino, Italy, Victor Pietrangelo made Canadian curling history, helping Canada win its first ever medal in the inaugural debut of the mixed doubles curling event at the FISU (Interantional University Sports Federation) World University Games. In round robin play, Pietrangelo and his partner Jessica Zheng of the University of Waterloo delivered a sparkling 6-1 record. In the semifinals, they dropped a close 7-5 decision to Team Germany before bouncing back and defeating Team Italy in seven ends by a scoreline of 8-3. In the bronze medal contest, the Accounting student shot 80 per cent. Through their performances over the weekend, Pietrangelo and Zheng are now ranked eighth in Canada and 17th in the world in mixed doubles.Â
