Christina Giannini joined the Brock Badgers in 1996, competing for five seasons with the women’s soccer team while earning a Bachelor of Physical Education (Honours) in 2000 and a Bachelor of Education in 2001.
Giannini made an immediate impact, earning the team’s Rookie of the Year award before being named the team’s Most Valuable Player twice (1997, 1999) and leading the Badgers to Ontario University Athletics (OUA) quarterfinal appearances in both seasons. Her strong play in 1999 and 2000 also earned her OUA West All-Star recognition.
In 2000, Giannini achieved a historic milestone, becoming the first player in program history to be named a Canadian Interuniversity Athletic Union (CIAU), now U SPORTS, First Team All-Canadian,
an accomplishment that marked a defining moment for Brock women’s soccer and reflected its
growing national presence. She was also named a finalist for Brock University’s Female Athlete of the Year.
Equally dedicated in the classroom, Giannini earned three consecutive President’s Awards from 1998-2000.
Following her time at Brock, Giannini continues to support the development of young athletes through coaching and her work as an educator.
