Tom Kearney - Builder/Athletic Injury Clinic (1968-78)
Tom’s work with athlete’s dates back to World War II when he was a member of the Royal Montreal Regiment Medical Corps. In 1945, Tom and his wife moved to St. Catharines. It was here that Tom trained softball and hockey teams for Lightning Fastener, and basketball, hockey and softball teams for Legion Branch 24. Tom was responsible for the peak condition of the Thompson Products team when they won the Canadian Senior Softball Championship in 1968. This was also the year he began his commitment to Brock University athletes. He started training the hockey team and soon became Head Trainer for the men and women’s division of athletics. Tom joined the C.A.T.A. in 1969, was vice-president for two years, and president in 1974. Tom was named Sportsman of the Year by the City of St. Catharines in 1973.
