David Shemilt - Swimming (1982-1987)
 
David Shemilt competed on the swimming team from 1982-87. In the five years with the Badgers, Shemilt was an OUAA Champion and CIAU Champion in the 200m, 400m and 1500m freestyle, holding the record in each of those events. Prior to joining the Badgers, Shemilt became a member of the Canadian National Team in 1980 and continued to compete with the Canadian team throughout his time with Brock. The two-time Brock Male Athlete of the Year (1983 & 1986) was a finalist at the 1982 Commonwealth Games, the 1983 Pan American Games and the 1983 and 1985 World University Games (all in 400m/1500m freestyle). In 1984, Shemilt became the Canadian Champion in the 400m and 1500m freestyle and was an Olympic finalist at the 1984 Olympic Games (7th 1500m freestyle, Canadian record in the 800m & 1500m freestyle).
